Giving a sultry twist on The Matrix, Kim sported a criss-cross leather bralette from Alaïa with her beloved Balenciaga pantaboots for her sister Khloe’s birthday celebration. Finishing off the look, Kim donned her favourite butterfly sunglasses and silver Hourglass bag, both by Balenciaga. This isn’t Kim’s first outing in skin-tight black this month. Just over a week ago, she wore a stretch-and-go Balenciaga catsuit with the house’s Knife boots, a silver version of Balenciaga’s cult Le Cagole bag and sunnies; and earlier in June she wore a halterneck all-in-one with a metallic Balenciaga rain coat. Surprising as it may seem, there’s a wearable way to interpret Kim’s stretchy style. The sock-like Knife boots can elevate a simple jeans and T-shirt combo, and if you’re feeling brave, try the pantaboots with an oversized tee or shirt – they certainly deliver on the comfort front. In one of the first scenes from Mahfuz Sultan and Chloe Wayne Sultan’s new documentary for Vogue on the legacy of Virgil Abloh—titled simply V, as the designer and polymathic creative was known among his friends—we see one of Abloh’s best friends, the vintage car dealer Arthur Kar, driving a familiar route around Paris. On any given day, Abloh could likely be found in the passenger seat with Kar listening to hip-hop as the two drifted in and out of conversation, or Abloh worked on his phone. “He just wanted to enjoy the music and his time with me,” Kar explains in the film.
