Christopher Niquet: She shoots really fast. Most photographers, especially in fashion, you’re gonna see variations of the same thing. Right? With Vivienne, you're gonna have one frame, maybe two. And that's it. VR: That is true. I’m really investing a lot into this, even though it’s just a point and shoot: the film and the development, the prints and reprints. And the reason why I always only shot one or two shots of one moment is really because I had to just save. I couldn’t just shoot a whole roll of the same thing because that would mean it would cost me much more and I didn’t have that money a couple of years ago. But also, personally I really dislike when a photographer on set starts to overshoot. So that also has something subconsciously to do with it because if I feel like I got the shot I got it. Theo [Wenner, her boyfriend] would always laugh about me when I would come home from a trip. I was gone for a month and I only shot two or three roles. ‘So yeah, let’s see what he got there.’ And then he would always want to be such an active part of looking at those pictures. And almost every shot would be very special or you know, almost a jackpot because the moment fell into my lap. And I think it inspired him. I really want to say that now he’s shooting less rolls. VR: A beautiful picture to me is something that touches me, that is emotional, usually movement or it’s a moment that only I saw. I’m a very observant person, I would say, and I pay attention to the little details, those unforced moments. Because when I work, everything’s very much, you know, planned and organized and everything’s perfectly set up with the photographers that I work with, most of them are very technical. I just see beauty in the less obvious things.
